Week 8 (Manantiales 2)
Hello everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is a gorgeous week here in Puebla and I am sick! Woo hoo. It isn't terrible, don't worry. Just a cough and phlegm in my chest. I got medicine that will hopefully start helping soon because coughing all the time is no fun, let me tell ya. Other than that, all's good in the hood! The people are great, the food is great, the weather is pretty great, and the work is great! We have an investigator with a baptism date!!! Yay!!!!!!!! That was super exciting and he seems really sincere in his desire to come unto Christ. It's awesome. So I have some funny stories to share with you guys this week.
"Hermanos" vs. "Años"
While we were at a member's house for dinner, Hermano Sanchez asked me, "Cuantos hermanos tiene?" I replied with, "19". "En serio?????" I thought he asked me, "Cuantos años tiene?", so I replied with 19. Just so you all know, I do not have 19 siblings. Just 4. Hermana Cuevas told me that I had done the same thing on our first day together, and since the Sanchez family incident I have done it 3 more times. So all in all, I have said that I have 19 siblings several times. Every time is super funny and great. That, just so you all know, went in the journal.
"The Spanglish Prayer"
So ever since the CCM I have been praying in Spanish, but one night while we were planning, I wanted to say a sincere prayer for something specific so I wanted to pray in English. So I started my prayer in English aloud, but somewhere down the road I had started praying in Spanish! I went back to English but would occasionally use some Spanish phrases. When the prayer was all said and done, Hna. Cuevas and I just looked at each other and laughed. It was so funny! Also, I know the mission objective in Spanish better than I do in English. Thanks CCM! You're seriously the best.
So yeah! Mission life is great here in Puebla! Loving the work and loving life!!
I was super excited to hear about the Indy temple!!!!! So maybe when I comehome we can make a stop at the temple on our drive home, yeah? I know that is super far away, but I really want to go!!!!! I miss the temple!!
Happy Birthday Pops!!!!!! Just so you know I didn't forget. Love ya!!!
And to answer Celeste and Mom's question about transfers, you find out that you are leaving a day or two before but you don't find out who your new companion is or where you are going until the actual transfer meeting. I won't get transferred in the next cambio (that is what they are called here) because I am being trained. So I get to stay here in my area for a total of 12 weeks minimum. After that, who knows what will happen!!
Hope everything is going all right for you guys back at home!
Love you all,
Hermana Newhard
