Week 7 (Manantiales 2)
I am in my area!!!!!!!! My area's name is Manantiales 2 and my companion is Hermana Cuevas! My Spanish is getting me along pretty decently. I can understand what people are saying most of the time and if I don't understand most of what they are saying I think I get the gist of what they are saying.
Anyways, I am in the city and we have a little apartment and it is pretty cute. I didn't take pictures yet but I will later and send them to you guys next week so you can see where I am living. I have a stellar view from our front room window!!!! It is so legit!!! I can see a volcano and a mountain and a really cool looking church, all at the same time!!!!!!! Sometimes when I look out the window Popo (the volcano) is smoking. It is so rad.
Anyways, I like contacting people, it is fun, and sometimes a little funny because sometimes at first they look at you like you are a crazy person. It is great. And it is great because you get to meet all kinds of people. Our investigators are pretty great too. I love teaching them and seeing their progress, even though I have only seen a little progress because I have only been here for a little while.
The food is great. The members feed us comida (their main meal which is around 2pm) every single day and is pretty nice. I haven't had any food that turns my mouth into a fiery inferno yet, but when I eventually do I'll be sure to let you guys know. First we eat soup and then we have the main course. I love the members even though I only know a few, but I'll know more with time.
Anyways, the last day at the CCM was great and sad. Believe it or not I cried. But only when we were singing "God Be With You Till We Meet Again". That song got me good. I was crying like there was a burst in a water pipe. It was rediculous, and I was laughing at myself because I was crying so I was laughing and crying and I was a mess. I made a lot of great friends at the CCM. I already miss them. I miss my family too, btw. Love you guys. Fo realz. Oh! today I was eating something hot, like temperature hot, and I started breathing like a "retarded dragon". And then I remembered how we do that all the time around the dinner table. And it is super funny. So I started laughing. It was great.
Anyways, it is great here and I am enjoying the work and the opportunity to serve here in Mexico.
Love you all, and take care!!Hermana Newhard
